Begin Again

This last little while,
my head has been a mess.

Words said under the skyline lights -
but I feel truly blessed.

It has been a period of revision
solitude and sleep.
I've had a sneaking suspicion 
This clarity is what I needed

Before the start of any new chapter
Take time to be with yourself
shed a tear or share the laughter 
focus on you, improve your health

Now I am awaken
to a new me, the life I want to lead
I am not mistaken 
This is who I want to be.

Hold onto the present
and prepare for the future
let go of the past 
Who you were is not meant to last.

You are capable of many things
apply yourself and begin 
Become who you've always dreamed
it all starts with a simple belief.

Walking through the bustle
the sun beats down, the bodies hustle.
Beneath the glimmer you can hear the hum
The voices and cries of a littered slum.

Some may fear this
a few blocks of horror, endless sorrows.
And to be honest I wouldn't roam alone
Avoid it on your way home.

For when the sun goes down
They come out to play
The lustre of the town
Is gone for the day.

Eastside murmurs
The voices and cries of a littered slum.
Lost dreams and no hope
The end of life for some.

Watch Me

Tell me I can’t 

And I will show you I can.

Tell me I shouldn’t

And I’ll show you I will.

Despite what you are saying

there is no place I won’t go.

Because you never know

where you’ll end up,

or the stories you’ll share.

This life of no limits,

no boundaries or gimics,

is what separates me from the rest,

its what will make me be the best.

Sure I have made mistakes

but I live without regrets.

Because in the end those decisions I made

are what have made me this way.

The person I am today

is better than who I was yesterday,

but nothing compared to what I will be                               tomorrow

                              So take these moments in strides 

                              never lose your pride.

It Happens While We Make Other Plans

We go through life never expecting the moments that change us, the decisions we make, and the person we become.  Until you have lived through a situation you don’t know how you should react or what to expect - you are reacting based knowledge and experience you have gained.  But its when we take time to stop and reflect on where we are now, how we got here and where we want to see ourselves go, that we recognize the progress we have made.

Its within these moments that I recognize my accomplishments, faults, mistakes, and values. At times I have not made the best choices, but at others I have changed my life.  They say “today is the first day of the rest of your life” and this could not be more profound.  Every day we wake up to the world, we are faced with a decision - a decision to either change the way we live, or keep taking the same steps.  How far will you let yourself go?

I believe in striving for greatness and the beauty of life, to never give up on myself and what I dream of achieving.  The decisions we make along the way is known as life and how we deal with our choices is individual; never leave behind who you are because in the end you are the only person you will always have.  Strive for success, believe in yourself, and become the dreams that inspire you.
